The impact on humans and the environment are dramatic if an electrified vehicle or a high-voltage lithium-ion battery catches fire. The protection of humans, buildings and infrastructure must be guaranteed and has the highest priority in the case of fire. This is where our automatic ecell-guard system comes in. The system was developed to actively protect humans and buildings from the resulting impact of a fire and to reduce damage to a minimum.
COMPANYHeat and toxic smoke endanger human life, contaminate the entire environment, make firefighting more difficult and cause considerable environmental remediation costs.
Isolating the fire is particularly important for fire protection concepts in enclosed public and private buildings of all kinds. Fires can spread quickly and uncontrollably to other buildings or vehicles and cause further damage.
The use of extinguishing water to fight fires inevitably results in water damage to the building or interior fittings. The resulting extinguishing water must be disposed of afterwards at great expense, as additives in the extinguishing water often lead to contamination.
Even conventional vehicle fires pose an immense risk to humans and building structures. First and foremost, as already described, through heat and smoke. But the subsequent extinguishing work also poses major risks.
An electric vehicle fire poses additional challenges that go far beyond the dangers mentioned above, such as heat, smoke and extinguishing water. The picture above shows the fire of an electric vehicle in a public underground parking garage in southern Germany.
